Prepare to Fall in Love With These Santa Barbara Resorts
As a Midwest girl living in New York City, I am well-acquainted with the harsh, gray winters that drag on between November and April. So, when Visit Santa Barbara offered me a chance to escape to California’s sunny shores, my fiancé and I jumped at the opportunity.
What we discovered in Santa Barbara was far more than a temporary escape from the cold. It was a picturesque town with a wealth of romantic experiences to be had. From the gorg beach to the luxurious resorts and wineries, Santa Barbara has something for everyone.
Stay
Hotel Californian:
Located near the Funk Zone, a few square city blocks packed with wineries, restaurants, bike rentals, and more, Hotel Californian is an idyllic resort that catered to all our needs. With a winery that stocks local wines, a five-star steakhouse, a stunning spa, a rooftop pool, and a sexy hotel bar, this resort has it all. The rooms were spacious and comfortable, with an in-room fireplace, the comfiest king-sized bed, and a deep soaking tub, big enough for two.
The Ritz-Carlton Bacara, Santa Barbara:
The epitome of luxury, The Ritz-Carlton Bacara was my home away from home for two nights. Chic, posh, and classy, my suite boasted a soaking tub just feet from the bed, a fully-stocked mini bar, and not one, but two ocean-view balconies. In addition, the beachfront property has multiple pools and steamy jacuzzis, private beach access, an indoor/outdoor bar, and an excellent steakhouse with ocean views. It truly fulfills your definition of a dream vacation.

Explore the Funk Zone:
A must-visit area in downtown Santa Barbara, the Funk Zone has everything you could ever want or need. Rent bikes and head to Lucky Penny for lunch- the roasted maitake mushroom pizza is a personal favorite. Make sure to stop by Salt Cave Santa Barbara and Pearl Social as well.
Spa time:
Relax with the full-body massage at Spa Majorelle at Hotel Californian or Body Melt treatment at The Ritz-C Carlton Bacara, Santa Barbara. Both spas cater to their clients with calming spaces, expert masseuses, and fluffy white robes.
Partake in a wine tasting (or three!):
Santa Barbara is home to some of the best wines in the world, thanks to the cooling ocean influence and nearby hillsides working together to create different varieties and styles of wine. I recommend visiting at least one winery during your trip. My top-three wineries were The Society, the Foley Family Wines portfolio, and Gainey Vineyard.
