A complete transformation for the Woodland Heights Craftsman

Woodland Heights Craftsman gets top-to-bottom makeover

The Dinitz family had been searching for a home in the greater Heights area that would provide a great school district and a convenient location. After searching around, they ultimately found the perfect location in Woodland Heights, where they found a charming Craftsman style home that needed some updating.

As the coronavirus pandemic took hold of Houston, the Dinitzes quickly closed on the house, and as they settled in, they knew they needed to update some of the home’s quirks. They hired Inflection Architecture and Lucas Craftsmanship to help with the renovations and update the home to fit their needs.

Kitchen upgrades

One of the most dramatic upgrades was to the kitchen, which underwent a complete overhaul. Previously, the kitchen’s flow was awkward, but the upgrades allowed for a much more streamlined aesthetic. The white oak island and wall-mount shelf are now the focal point of the kitchen, and the perimeter cabinets were painted white and finished with unlacquered brass hardware.

Living room adjustments

The living room now offers a cozy spot for morning coffee and conversations with friends. The fireplace received a much-needed update, with a marble tile treatment and a new white oak mantel. These changes gave the space an updated yet traditional feel.

Dining room bar

A back wall of the dining room was transformed into a bar area, which gives more flexibility to entertain guests. The designers used a Sherwin-Williams dark blue-black “Cyberspace” paint, which contrasts nicely with the soapstone slab used for the bar.

Upscale primary suite

The primary bedroom suite offers an upscale feel that is both chic and comfortable. The designers used a combination of light blue paint, along with both grasscloth wallpaper and paneling. The bathroom also underwent a dramatic transformation with new fixtures, including a freestanding tub that replaced a large, built-in spa tub.
